Sustainable Ceramics #2: Investigating a footprint

22.11.2025 - 25.10.2026

What does a coffee cup tell us about air pollution, raw materials and social inequality? Ceramics are one of the most sustainable materials in existence: as long as they don't break, they can last for thousands of years. At the same time, their production is anything but sustainable. The firing process releases large amounts of CO₂, and raw materials and glazes are harmful to people and the environment or are becoming depleted. The Princessehof and Lab AIR in Rotterdam are investigating this paradox in Sustainable Ceramics #2: Investigating a footprint.

Featuring work by, among others: Alternative Ceramics Supply (Australia); Hannah Rose Whittle and Benedetta Pompili from the Rijksakademie Tech Fellowship Programme, Amsterdam; Studio Lotte Douwes, Rotterdam; and Fabrikaat, Nijmegen. Click here for more information.

EKWC@Princessehof: Linda Swanson - Mineral Bloom

22.11.2025 - 14.06.2026

Linda Swanson (USA, 1967) focuses on natural processes. Swanson's art practice explores the interplay between earth, water and fire. Light materials become dark, soft materials become hard, solid materials begin to flow. Rather than explaining the processes, Swanson invites us to observe and experience. In this way, she reminds us that the universe is an astonishing place.

Her works have been exhibited in the US, Canada and Europe, with recent exhibitions at the Musée National de Sèvres in Paris, Galateea Contemporary Art in Bucharest, Art Paris with Galerie Maria Lund, the DePaul Museum in Chicago and the Milwaukee Art Museum. EKWC@Princessehof: Linda Swanson - Mineral Bloom is her first solo exhibition on Dutch soil.
